Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the performing arts, which are now known to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to be in the "child prodigy" category. These traits were natural for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen entered into this nurturing house on August 17th, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mother. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also owned shares in the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons was the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very good at them. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude to perform. Her winning of almost all Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama is a testimony to this. At age 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
