Lucy Lawless has a long and distinguished career as an actress and musician in New Zealand. Her name is most well-known in her craft for her notable roles on various top-billed television films and series, including Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: The Vengeance. The most well-known of her roles is her portrayal of Xena, which she did throughout her career in the role of an actress. Lucy played the character of Vanessa Angel after Vanessa was unwell and was unable to take part in the shooting. In the month of September, 1995 it was announced that a spinoff would be created based on her portrayal of Xena. The spin-off series suffered another hit in its ratings as well as a cultural impact and made the series last until 6 seasons, boosting Lucy's growing recognition as an actor. She's not only known to many as Xena but she is also known for her character as Diane Lewis Swanson on NBCs hit show Parks and Recreation which she was a part of from 2012 to the year 2015.
